Miami Night Tours

Miami Night Weather by Month

Two things decide what a Miami night tour feels like: when it gets dark, and whether a storm is coming. Sunset moves by almost three hours through the year, while the evening low only moves from about 61°F to 78°F. Before you book Miami Night reservation, check your month.

What the weather does to a night tour here

Sunset falls at 5:29pm in early December and at 8:16pm on 27 June. The Big Bus night tour leaves at 8pm all year. In June and July you set out before sunset. From mid-September through March you set out in full dark.

The rain decides the rest. From May to October each month averages more than 6 inches, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November. From November to April each month averages less than 4 inches. If an operator cancels a boat or a bus for bad weather, you are offered a new date or a full refund.

Cold is rarely the problem. Evening lows stay above 60°F in every month. On the water and on the open top deck, the breeze is what you dress for.

Miami night weather month by month

Each month gives the average high and low at Miami International Airport, NOAA's 1991-2020 normals, and the sunset and dark times on the 15th from the U.S. Naval Observatory.

January: 76°F by day, 61°F at night

The coolest evenings of the year, near the average low of 61°F. It is also the driest month, at 1.83 inches. Sunset is 5:52pm at mid-month and it is dark by 6:16pm. The 8pm bus and any evening cruise run in full dark.

February: 78°F by day, 63°F at night

Evenings average a low of 63°F, with 2.15 inches of rain. The sun sets at 6:14pm by mid-month and it is fully dark by 6:38pm. Every evening tour starts in the dark, the 8pm bus included. Bring a layer for the top deck.

March: 81°F by day, 66°F at night

The clocks go forward on 8 March, and sunset jumps from 6:26pm to 7:26pm overnight. By mid-month it is 7:30pm, dark by 7:53pm. Lows average 66°F, with 2.46 inches of rain. The 8pm bus still leaves in the dark, and so does any cruise after 8pm.

April: 84°F by day, 70°F at night

Lows reach 70°F and rain stays low, at 3.36 inches. Sunset is 7:44pm at mid-month, and full dark comes at 8:08pm, so the 8pm bus leaves at dusk. For a cruise in the dark, book a sailing after 8pm, or take the latest on offer.

May: 87°F by day, 73°F at night

The rains begin: 6.32 inches, against 3.36 in April. Evenings average a low of 73°F. Sunset is 7:59pm by mid-month and it is dark by 8:24pm. An early-evening cruise now sails in daylight, so the latest sailing is the one that reaches the dark. Watch the rain radar as the afternoon ends.

June: 89°F by day, 76°F at night

The wettest month, at 10.51 inches, and hurricane season opens on 1 June. Sunset reaches 8:14pm by mid-month and 8:16pm on 27 June, the latest of the year. It is not dark until 8:40pm, so the 8pm bus leaves in daylight.

July: 91°F by day, 78°F at night

Evenings stay near 78°F, with highs of 91°F. Sunset holds at 8:14pm at mid-month and it is dark by 8:40pm. The 8pm bus still leaves before sunset. Book the latest sailing for the skyline in the dark, and keep free cancellation on the booking.

August: 91°F by day, 78°F at night

The warmest nights of the year, with an average low of 78°F, and 9.58 inches of rain. Sunset is 7:56pm by mid-month and it is fully dark by 8:20pm. The 8pm bus leaves at dusk. Watch the storm forecast the day before.

September: 89°F by day, 77°F at night

Still one of the wettest months, at 10.22 inches, and the Atlantic storm season peaks on 10 September. Lows average 77°F. Sunset falls to 7:25pm by mid-month, dark by 7:48pm, so the 8pm bus leaves in the dark again. Book with free cancellation.

October: 86°F by day, 74°F at night

Lows ease to 74°F, with 7.65 inches of rain. Sunset is 6:53pm at mid-month and 6:40pm on 31 October. A 7pm cruise now sails at dusk. Keep free cancellation on a booking: the storm season runs to 30 November, one more month.

November: 81°F by day, 68°F at night

The clocks go back on 1 November, and sunset drops from 6:40pm to 5:39pm overnight. By mid-month it is 5:32pm, dark by 5:56pm. Lows average 68°F and rain falls to 3.53 inches. The hurricane season ends on 30 November, with the dry evenings ahead.

December: 78°F by day, 64°F at night

The earliest dark of the year: sunset at 5:29pm from 28 November to 4 December. Lows average 64°F, with 2.44 inches of rain. A 6pm cruise is already a night cruise. Bring a layer for the wind on the water.

Sunset, dark and temperature in one table

Here are the twelve months side by side. "Fully dark" is the end of civil twilight, when the skyline is lit against a black sky. Times are for 2026 in downtown Miami; other years fall within a minute or two.

Know your month?

See the top night tours, then pick a sailing that leaves after the dark time for your date.

The seasons, and which one you want

For dry evenings and full dark early, come from December to April. Mid-month sunset runs from 5:32pm in December to 7:44pm in April, evening lows sit around 61°F to 70°F, and each month averages under 4 inches of rain.

From June to September, the evenings are warm and long, and the rain is heaviest. Mid-month sunset runs from 7:25pm to 8:14pm, so only a late sailing reaches the dark, and the storm season peaks on 10 September. Book with free cancellation and check the forecast the day before.

October and November sit between the two. The rain eases, the clocks go back on 1 November, and the storm season ends on 30 November.

Best time of evening to start

If you can choose, start about half an hour before the dark time for your month. You see the last light behind the towers, then the skyline switches on around you. In June that means a sailing after 8pm, not at 7pm; in December, one after 5:30pm.

Leave room at the end of the evening too. The fountain in Bayfront Park plays its last show at 9:30pm, or 10:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and Bayside Marketplace closes at 9pm to 11pm depending on the day.

Questions about the weather and the dark

What time does it get dark in Miami?
Sunset runs from 5:29pm in late November and early December to 8:16pm in late June, and full dark follows about 25 minutes later. The clocks go back on 1 November 2026, which moves sunset an hour earlier overnight, from 6:40pm to 5:39pm.
Does a sunset cruise leave at the same time all year?
No. The sun sets anywhere from 5:29pm to 8:16pm through the year, so a cruise timed for sunset moves by close to three hours. Check the time on your booking for your date.
Do the tours run in the rain?
Most run rain or shine. An operator may cancel a boat or a bus for bad weather, and then offers a new date or a full refund. The Big Bus top deck is open to the sky, so bring a light rain layer in summer.
Is hurricane season a problem?
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November. A named storm can cancel boats and buses, so in those months book tours with free cancellation and check the forecast the day before.
Is it cold on a Miami night cruise?
Rarely. The average evening low is 61°F in January and 78°F in August. The breeze on the water is what you feel, so bring a light layer.

Where these facts come from

Temperatures and rain are NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Miami International Airport. Sunset and dark times are the U.S. Naval Observatory's for 2026, in downtown Miami. The storm season is the National Hurricane Center's, checked 28 September 2026.
