Miami Night Tours

Miami Night Tour Options

A Miami night can happen on the bay, on the river, on the streets, on a farm trail or on a dance floor. Each one starts somewhere different and gets dark at a different point. Weighing up Miami Night ticket prices? Here is every option side by side, with what the booking pages bury: is it dark when you set out, and what do you pay on the night?

Most of what is on offer is a boat, from Bayside Marketplace, from Venetian Marina or from a marina on the Miami River. A bus leaves Bayside at 8pm, a van collects you from a downtown hotel, and the farm trails for the ATVs are on the far south-west edge of the city. The rest is a night out in its own right: salsa on Ocean Drive, a club, a pedal bike in Wynwood or a lit kayak.

Bay, river, streets, trails or dance floor: five ways to spend a Miami night

On the bay: A shared cruise from $25 to $63.20 a seat, for one to two hours on Biscayne Bay, past PortMiami, Star Island and the downtown skyline. The whole boat is yours on the private boat or the yacht, with fees paid on the night on top.

On the river: The private boat runs 10 to 15 minutes down the Miami River's no-wake zone before it reaches the bay. The LED kayak spends about two hours paddling the river through downtown towards the bay.

On the streets: The Big Bus night tour at $36, with a live guide from downtown over the MacArthur Causeway to South Beach. The panoramic bus makes four stops, and the van adds a ride on the observation wheel at Bayside.

On the trails: Night ATV rides on muddy farm trails on the far south-west edge of the city, with helmets and lights. You drive there or take a ride-share.

On the dance floor: The salsa night at Mango's on Ocean Drive, $89 with two beginner lessons, a mojito and the club after 10pm. The club night starts on a rooftop at 10:30pm.

If the water is your answer, the Miami night boat tours page compares the cruises. If you would rather stay on land, the Miami night city tours page puts the bus, the panoramic bus and the van side by side.

Every option side by side

Here is the whole range in one table. "Light" says whether a trip is built for the dark or simply runs into the evening. The fifth column shows the fee paid on the night where the listing adds one, and otherwise the one thing the fare buys. Fares are the captured prices.

Shared seat or the whole boat

This is the first choice on the water. A shared cruise sells you a seat among strangers, with a bar or a host. A private boat sells you the boat, and your group sets the music, the drinks and the pace.

On the private boat, the lead traveller signs a charter agreement and must be on board. The captain fee is per booking, so it weighs less per head in a group of six than in a couple.

What you pay on the night, tour by tour

These are the charges each listing names in its own exclusions. None is in the fare you book, and several are paid in cash. Tips are extra on almost everything, and this table leaves them out unless a listing calls one required.

Which departures are after dark

Sunset in Miami moves by 2 hours and 47 minutes across the year. It falls at 5:29pm in early December and at 8:16pm on 27 June. So a fixed start time is full night in one month and daylight in another. The Big Bus night tour always leaves at 8pm, and this is what that start looks like on the 15th of each month.

A cruise timed for the sunset moves with the sun, so check the time you book against the table. From mid-September through March, any evening sailing is already in the dark. In June and July, pick the latest sailing on offer. The month-by-month detail is on the weather and dark times page.

The 21-and-over nights

Downtown, South Beach or a drive south

Downtown, at Bayside: The open-bar cruise, the skyline cruise, Fiesta's twilight cruise and Big Bus Stop #1 all start inside or beside Bayside Marketplace. The van picks up at downtown hotels only.

Just north, at Venetian Marina: Aqua Party Boat's sunset, karaoke and true-crime cruises board at Pier 3, 1635 N Bayshore Dr.

On the Miami River: The private boat leaves a marina at 2610 NW 18th Terrace, and the kayak launches from lot 17 under I-95 at 204 SW 3rd St.

In Miami Beach: The salsa night is at 900 Ocean Dr. The panoramic bus starts outside the W hotel at 22nd St and Miami Beach Dr.

Far south-west: The ATV farms. Plan a car or a ride-share each way.

Every start point, with the way in to each, is on the meeting points map.

Choosing by who is coming

Questions about choosing a night tour

Which night cruise is cheapest?
Fiesta's twilight cruise from Bayside, at $25 a person, for about an hour on the bay. The ATV park's $15 fare is lower, but it buys park entry only, with $100 a person due at the gate.
What is paid on the night on top of the fare?
It depends on the tour. The private boat adds a $70 captain fee, the yacht adds its crew at $100 an hour, a $100 marina fee and $100 fuel, and the Redland ATV park adds $100 a person at the gate. Aqua Party Boat's sunset and karaoke cruises ask a $10 cash tip a person, which their listings call required.
Is there a private night boat tour in Miami?
Yes. A 2-hour private boat from a Miami River marina takes up to 10 with a captain, from $52 a person plus a $70 captain fee. A 3-hour private yacht takes up to 13 for $160 a group, plus its crew, marina and fuel fees.
Are Miami night tours good for kids?
The Big Bus night tour, the twilight cruise and the salsa class before 10pm take children. Miami Aqua Tours sells its open-bar night cruise to adults 21 and over, and the club night and the pedal pub are 21 and over too. The Redland ATV ride takes ages 10 to 70.
Do Miami night tours run after dark?
Only when they leave after sunset. The Big Bus night tour leaves at 8pm, which is before sunset from about mid-June to mid-July and in full dark from mid-September through March. On the water, pick a sailing that starts after the sunset time for your date.
Which Miami night tour suits a group?
The yacht takes up to 13 for one group fare, plus its crew, marina and fuel fees. The private boat takes up to 10 with a $70 captain fee per booking. For a bigger party, a shared cruise sells seats one by one.
